Looking into solar for your business can quickly turn into uncertainty and analysis paralysis.  At My Solar Quotes, we cut through the noise with independent feasibility and procurement services - helping New Zealand businesses move from early research to clear, data-driven decisions.

Why Businesses Get Stuck

When medium-to-large commercial businesses in New Zealand start exploring solar, they quickly run into a wall:

  • Quotes all over the place – Different solar installers recommend very different system sizes, designs, and prices.
  • Decision paralysis – Without independent, site specific guidance, projects stall in “research limbo.”
  • High stakes – These aren’t $9k home solar power systems; they’re 5-7 figure investments that demand board approval, internal buy-in, and long-term confidence.

In short: businesses want to go solar, but the process can be confusing, high-risk, and hard to justify internally.

Our Solution: Independent Desktop Feasibility Study & Transparent Tendering

We provide a structured, independent pathway: Our desktop feasibility study gives your business a clear, independent view of the right solar system size, costs, savings, and ROI - guided by an experienced solar engineer. From there, our tendering service takes your project to market with trusted SEANZ-approved installers, delivering side-by-side proposals you can compare with confidence.

Commercial Solar – Clear, Independent Pathway

Our Partnership With Beam

To deliver this service, we work alongside Beam Solar - specialists in solar feasibility and procurement. Their engineering expertise and tendering platform give your business access to world-class tools and independent analysis.

Their procurement software ensures installer proposals are uploaded, scored, and compared fairly.

By combining My Solar Quotes’ trusted NZ installer network with Beam’s engineering and evaluation process, you get the best of both worlds - local, SEANZ-approved companies bidding on your project, backed by rigorous and transparent analysis.

What You Get With a Desktop Feasibility Study

For $1,000, you’ll receive a comprehensive, independent feasibility study of how solar can work for your business - without anyone needing to step foot on site. From there you can choose to go to the tendering stage at no extra cost.

Your Desktop Feasibility Study includes:

  • Site Review & Solar Potential
Using your electricity data, weather-station data and satellite imagery, we map how much solar can fit on your site and how it will perform.
  • System Size Options
Multiple solar system sizes are modelled so you can see which delivers the best financial return - from ‘best payback’ system size to maximum roof potential size.
  • Financial Insights
    Each system option shows:
    • Estimated cost to install
    • Annual savings on your power bills
    • Payback period
    • Long-term return on investment
    • Downloadable spreadsheet with a 25-year cashflow with NPV and IRR
  • Battery & Power Factor Analysis
We model what different battery sizes would do for your site, and whether power factor correction could further improve your returns.
  • Energy Profile & Usage Breakdown
Half-hourly analysis of your actual energy use against solar generation, showing how much you’ll consume on-site and how much solar could be exported.
  • Payment Options
Compare outright purchase vs a bank loan vs power purchase agreements (PPA), so you can see what best suits your business’s cashflow and risk profile.
  • Carbon Savings
Insight into your emissions reductions from switching to solar.

Your report will be delivered via a video call with the engineer who prepared it, giving you the chance to fully understand the analysis and ask questions.

Use this report to build a strong business case and get your organisation on board. If there’s interest to progress, you’ll also have the option to move seamlessly into the tendering stage.

Note: If the numbers don’t stack up, there’s no obligation to continue. For particularly large projects (around 500 kW+) or more complex sites, the assigned engineer may recommend an on-site visit or further analysis.

Tender Management

Once your feasibility study is complete, and you’d like to go to the next level, we can take your project to market in a structured and competitive way.

  • Handpicked Installers – We select three trusted SEANZ-approved installers directly from the My Solar Quotes database, ensuring only proven New Zealand companies bid.
  • Structured Proposals– Installers receive a detailed project brief with all relevant site data (system sizing, interval demand data, panel layout, etc.), so every proposal is based on the same information.
  • Side-by-Side Comparison – Proposals are uploaded into Beam’s procurement software where they are scored and compared across price, equipment quality, warranties, performance guarantees, and contract terms.
  • Fair & Competitive Process – The structured tendering approach avoids “apples vs oranges” quotes and ensures you can make a decision with clarity and confidence.
  • Independent Oversight – The process is managed independently by Beam's solar experts, ensuring the focus stays on value and long-term performance, not just the lowest upfront price.

At the end of the feasibility and tendering process, you’ll have a clear, professional report. It summarises the feasibility results and tender outcomes, with a side-by-side comparison of installer proposals assessed on consistent criteria such as system size, energy yield, equipment quality, warranties, cost, and payback. This gives you confidence that the system sizing is appropriate, the economics make sense, and the decision is based on independent engineering rather than sales pitches.  From there you can choose to move ahead to procurement.

Procurement

We’ll support you through contract review and negotiation, ensuring technical and legal terms are aligned and your interests are protected.
